Welcome to GringoWasi, the best place to experience true local Andean life in the Cusco Region.
Whether you are looking for lodging in a typical village, are interested in escaping the tourist vibe or if you just want a quiet place to relax after a trek, this is it. In our quiet town of Huarocondo you will enjoy peaceful nights, and beautiful scenery, Huarocondo is the perfect place for relaxing after a long day of exploring sites, and you can even sit in the main plaza without the worry of being bothered by venders selling souvenirs. If relaxing is not your thing then you can take advantage of our rural location and explore the many trails around town, some of which wind through fields of choclo, potatoes, habas or quinoa. You can get a work-out hiking up one of the local mountains, or take a leisurely stroll to the local Incan terraces close to Zurite. If you are interested in seeing the many archeological sites in the region, don’t worry, we can arrange tours or transportation to any place you may be interested in from Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley to the lesser visited sites like Tipon and Pikillacta. We can also arrange transportation to and from Cusco if needed and public transportation is readily available, for those preferring to get around on their own.
GringoWasi is not a hotel or hostel, but a true Bed and Breakfast, offering comfortable and spacious rooms that all include a full breakfast each morning. So if you are looking for an experience a little different from the normal tourist, are interested in local culture, or would just like a quiet place to call home for your visit, look no further than GringoWasi.
As most of our guests come by way of Lima, we invite you to check out our friends at Peru Road Trip for any lodging needs while in Lima, they are a Bed and Breakfast conveniently located close to the airport, have a beautiful home, and can assist you with any needs or advice while in Lima.
Meet your Hosts
The owners Lyle and Lily are an American/Peruvian couple, with Lily being originally from Lima and Lyle from California. The couple met in Las Vegas where Lily was working as a banker and Lyle was working as an Industrial Engineer. They were married in 2006 and in 2012 they decided to make a change and moved to Lily’s home country of Peru. After looking at several locations they decided on Huarocondo to open GringoWasi, which has become the perfect blend of a typical Andean village with some Gringo comforts and the rest as they say is history.
