Here in the Andes many families are just jetting by making just enough to exist and living well below the poverty level, and during the Christmas season there are a variety of groups that will do things for the local kids, like giving gifts, serving up hot chocolate and giving out paneton (a kind of fruit bread), but these things are often times done in the mid sized towns like ours, and often times the kids in some of the more isolated areas are left out.
Because of this we have decided to start up a program to help fill this gap a bit, our plan is to purchase 200 backpacks and fill them with a variety of items including school supplies, personal hygiene supplies, supplements and of course toys. If you would like to help us reach our goal, or maybe even surpass it, you can make a donation to our “go fund me” page here https://www.gofundme.com/christmass-for-the-kids and even if you can not help financially, sharing this program to your social media pages would help by spreading the word.
If you would like to keep up with how this program is progressing, get updates as to the exact items that will be included, and see pictures once we start passing out the care packages, you can follow us on our Facebook page here https://web.facebook.com/GringoWasiBb/
Thanks in advance for any and all support that you might be able to provide.
